Friday’s Touch of Kindness…..

Dave1

Two roads diverged in a wood, and
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
~ Robert Frost

Isn't this a crazy beautiful picture??  My very talented brother who is a professional photographer shot this picture.  Pretty amazing isn't it?

I searched for a picture today to capture the roller coaster of feelings that I have felt over the last few months of working at something other than dyeing wool and this picture was the one.  I think I have finally found a good balance between The Woolen Rabbit and working outside of my home.  It has given me a little more financial stability and much needed contact with people now that my kids are pretty much on their own.

Working at a veterinary hospital has a lot of challenges emotionally however.  There is no way around it, there is a lot of sadness which actually surprised me in my naiveness .  It's that circle of life that we really do not think about unless it happens to be our circle of life, but yet it happens every single day.
There are the successes however that moves us forward. The ones who thrive once the correct diagnosis is made.

This week we had a sweet dog from our local shelter who who was just not feeling well.  When I looked at him, I could see each one of my children when they were not feeling well when they were young.  You know the look, droopy eyes and a sad body.
He was here for a few days and then went back to the shelter and then came back.
…and I was so sad, It made my heart hurt.
Today I when I came to work and checked on him, he was up and wagging his tail.  The doctors filled in some of the blank spots with his diagnosis and he was a much happier boy.  This is what makes my job that much more special.  I saw him leave today wagging his tail and it made me smile

Such is life.  Ever since I was a young girl, this song has always made me smile and in this year of practicing kindness, today it rang true.

  1. I know just what you mean about that droopy look. I’m so glad that little dog was wagging his tail and feeling better. I guess we always have to remember that the happy stories wouldn’t be as happy if it weren’t for the sad stories, too.

  3. It was nice to hear the happy ending with the shelter dog–now all he needs is a forever home. Back to the beginning, the photo is amazing. Don’t hate me, but I love the Bronco colors!

  5. That photo is amazing! Thanks for sharing the story about the pup, too. I’m always so grateful for the folks at our vet clinic — the vets, the technicians, the assistants. They’re all so wonderful — and helpful in dealing with All Things Pet. I’m sure your kind, gentle spirit will comfort many a pet-owner. XO
