If you remember back on this post, I mentioned that I changed the word that I had embraced as my word my for 2015 at the last minute and chose the word Embrace instead. From that point forward I felt as though my life had turned upside down. Seriously I don't think that a word we embrace makes that much of a difference in our lives, but I was feeling as though the word that I had chosen instead of the one that had been in my mind all along was creating a little havoc in my life.
How silly does that sound? Right?
Well this is how it went….2015.
Having to sell a wheel to keep the business going. My parents were involved in a serious accident. An inured deer had to be shot in my back yard the day after my parent's accident, think bloody yard on white snow.. On our trip to visit a dear friend and my son a few days later, my car crapped out on the way. Ey yi yi….time for a change.
When I mentioned to my husband that I wanted to go back to my original word, but I felt as though it was cheating, he looked at me and said…"It's ok, you can make your word be whatever you want it to be…it's your word."
(I know he thinks I am nuts, but he humors me.)
Well, he is right. My original word for 2015 was Sparkle.
Somehow I let myself translate embracing my Sparkling energy into embracing all of the challenging things that we deal with in our daily journey.
They really are two different things aren't they? We all have challenges that we have to meet, but how we view and deal with them is truly our challenge.
For me, I choose to Sparkle on. 🙂
While I don’t think a word can sabotage you, I do think choosing the right word makes all the difference in your outlook. So, sparkle! And let the sparkle bring the good stuff back!

Sparkle on girlfriend! It was meant for you. What an awful set of events to start off the New Year. I chose 2 words already out there and put them together. We’ll see how they fit and feel.

I agree with Carole- Sparkle is a great word for you.
And perspective is everything.
May the remainder of this month out shine all that has already been.

I like Sparkle much better than Embrace! There’s a load of work and maybe even guilt associated with Embrace that just doesn’t sound that enjoyable. Sparkle on the other hand, well that sounds like a year of fun! I might use it myself, I like it so much!!

Love the thought that you can “sparkle” in the midst of the hard things that come your way. I’m cheering for you, Kim. Great word, and may this be a great year to sparkle–no matter what!

Do what works for you!! I told my friends that if my 2015 word (breathe) doesn’t pan out, I’m going for a giant cuss word in 2016 — the one that starts with mother.

Ugh. A rough start indeed. But just consider…you could have a word for the day…like one of those calendars. For now—Sparkle on! And give yourself a hug. Sounds like you could use one.

That all totally sucks. Except for when you sparkle. I hope it turns the current karma around. Jeez.

Your husband is right . . . it’s YOUR word! And SPARKLE, it is! Although it’s a total bummer to have all that . . . crap . . . happen at once, I know you can deal with it all — and sparkle through it anyway. Here’s to the end of the crappy parts! XOXO
