You breathe,
Frosting mountains white,
Exciting trees to verdant flame,
Dancing sparrows on your wing,
Swirling waves into long sighs.
You beathe,
All things live.

If you read my blog last winter you know that I struggled a lot, not only with the long dark, cold days but with the continuous pain that had encompassed my life. I will be straight up honest with you, it is the first time that I have ever felt depression tickle my soul, but truth be told the physical pain that I was living with pretty much was in control on those days. Thankfully I am not in that place today.
Normally I love winter. I love the crisp air that makes you suck your breath in and lets you know you are alive…but I have been a wee bit afraid of winter after last year's experience. I know, it sounds silly, but last year was not an easy one for sure. I have made sure that I have good projects to keep my mind busy, and I am very blessed to have a husband who understands. He understands that I feel a huge need right now to fill up my winter days with light, so there are lots of light in the rooms that we spend most of our evenings in.

Most nights when I am catching up with my friend across the world, this is my view. It didn't look like this a month ago, but moving my beautiful spinning wheel so that it is what I see when I sit here and type, along with the crystal Christmas tree that is lit up makes me smile.
I think it is going to be a good Christmas and a brightly lit winter..and I have claimed my word for 2015 that I will share with you in a few weeks. 🙂
Twinkle lights help so much with the dark afternoons and nights, I agree. The days start to get longer next week. Hooray!

Good for you–it’s so important to do those things that elevate our mood. I couldn’t help but think of my sister who had an ankle replacement last December–she was a great fan of winter, but is now struggling with it. Your tree and wheel are beautiful!

Your photos are lovely. I couldn’t agree more with you about enjoying winter but missing the light. Winter solstice is coming up and then the light will gradually return. I hope you have a better winter.

It’s amazing what a difference one year can make. (Also twinkle lights!!!) I always like the change in seasons (although I do fight a bit . . . when cold weather and darkness begin to settle in) — but I’m always a bit happier when the days begin to get longer again. Wishing you a 2015 full of all the things you love best!

Pain is truly a light destroyer. When one’s eyes are closed tightly as pain catches us in its grip and our breathing is constricted as a result, light is very hard to see. So glad you are doing better this winter. Take care.
