The Best 15.00 You Will Ever Spend….

Knit companion
If you are a knitter and are not using this fantabulous app, called Knit Companion, you are truly missing out, especially if you have a tendency to misplace your paper patterns.  I am the queen of losing my paper patterns and with that paper pattern are all of the notes I have written on it, like any changes I made, which row I might have been on etc.

When you use knit companion there is NO.MORE.PAPER!  Yes, you heard me right, no more paper patterns.  You just import your pattern into the app, set up your key and your charts and it will keep track of where you are on the chart and the numerous row counters that let you know what row you left off on.  You can also place little sticky notes where you may have made a change just like those hand written notes you write on your paper patterns.

When you are working on a few different patterns, this makes staying organized so much easier.  Everything is in one neat little spot and you just open the project that you want to work on.  This has eliminated the piles of paper that were always on the table next to the sofa.  I LOVE it!  Truly, you will not regret spending 15.00 on this program.

Felix

In addition to the program, this little clip on stand, called Felix, is a nice thing to have as well.  Last winter when Dale and Carole stayed with us, she was using one of these and I could see how much easier it made following a pattern when you don't have to constantly shift your tablet. Of course I bought one right away and I use it all the time, not only for knitting, but also when I am cooking and using a recipe from the internet.  Truly a nifty little addition.

Well, that's it for tonight folks.  This time change always kicks my butt, I almost missed getting this post done before the day was finished.  I am usually a night owl, but this week it's been a challenge to stay awake much past 11pm.
Have a good evening!!

  1. I’ve never used this app, but it looks neat, I’ll have to look into it. I have TONS of papers all over for this reason.

  2. Yeah … but only if you have an iPad. It’s not available for Android yet (sigh). I tried it on my iPhone, but that screen is way too small for it to do any good.
And, oddly? Lately? I’m usually not turning my light out until 12:30!

  3. One of the things I like best about Knit Companion is that your place on a chart never gets lost! When I use paper patterns I use a magnetic board and if I drop it or someone moves it then my magnet also moves and I have no clue what row I’m on. I love my little Felix stand and I agree that it’s awesome for using the iPad in the kitchen. It’s also great for knitting and reading because then I don’t have to hold the iPad and both hands are free for knitting.

  4. I love Knit Companion. i knit an Anne Hanson scarf called Isodora. Started with a paper chart and struggled to keep the design lined up and executed properly. Then got KC, set up a chart with a moveable highland and the knitting became easy peasy. It’s worth investing in an iPad!

  5. Yeah,I had issues with downloading it. It’s an app in my iPad, but not fully functional. I probably need to download it again and figure it out. Love your Felix. Will have to investigate and get one. I’d probably use my iPad more if I had one.

  6. I agree…….best app I have ever invested in! Thanks for showing us FELIX. The second I saw the first pic I thought, ‘Well, what is that clever little gadget?’ Dubbed ‘gadget girl’ by my family members I think I just might have to add FELIX to my Christmas stocking. 🙂
