Let it Snow…….

TreeArtic breath coils the mountain,
Rattling the forests' bones.
Raindrops cling to the branches:
Jewelled adornment flung to earth.
Deng Ming~Dao

I wouldn't quite call it raindrops….man oh man, we have received a LOT of snow up here since the first of December, well over 3 feet.  We are running out of space in the driveway for the plow man to put it.  It's so pretty though the morning after a storm though, don't you think?

…and the dogs are just not loving it as you can see they have made a path just wide enough to do their business and get right back in, because not only has it been snowy, it's been frigid and their little feet get so cold.  The dogs are not that heavy, so their path is not that deep, it is lightly packed down and not to the ground for sure.  If one were to jump into the untouched snow, it would be well over her head.
Silly dogs..

If you live up here, you have to love winter because it's long!
Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. We’re joining you in the snow department today! We have at least a foot out there, well under your 3 feet, but a lot! I agree, it is beautiful the morning after a storm, especially when it’s a wet snow and clinging to the trees.

  2. Silly dogs indeed! We had a huge snow (every day for a week) when my miniture dachshund was less than a year old. She would go outside and then try to romp all over the top of the drifts. I was scared to death that she might drown! I know you have plenty of yarn, but hope you have plenty of heat and food to weather this.

  3. Can’t say I’d want 3′ of snow, but I’m envious! We’d love a good storm, we need a good storm! Stay safe and warm, Kim. I have a feeling you’re dyeing yarn!

  5. Kim, snowshoes make a great packed down path. My 80 lb retriever almost never breaks through after I pack it down, so your little guys would be fine. And it’s a terrific workout!

  6. Living farther south than you (by the Chesapeake Bay), we were supposed to get an inch or less and ended up with 5″. Weather forecasting in this region is often a 75/25 proposition (75% wrong/25% right). But it does look pretty…and we are joining you in cold temps as it was 12 degrees this morning. However, having lived in MN, I know that 20 degrees in winter can feel like a ‘heat wave.’ Stay warm!

  7. The problem with this much snow is that while I am enjoying being inside knitting and having tea, I am also noticing the cobwebs and other assorted specks that require my attention! Oh well
