Eye Candy Friday and some changes…….

Westsiderd

Isn't this a beautiful spot?  Last weekend I took a little time to map up some distances from my house.  I mapped out 2 miles and what would be 5K.  I am not a person that likes to walk on the main busy road where there is a lot of traffic.  I always feel like people are looking at me, which is silly because they are not…hopefully they are looking at the road ahead of them, but still.  It took me a little while to think about where I could walk without having to drive somewhere and then a lightbulb went off.  Duh…..just across that busy main street is a long side street that is not only beautiful, but pretty flat with a few inclines here and there.

Remember Monday's post?  Well I am trying to make some changes in my daily life and walking (and maybe a little running) is going to be a big part of it as long as my back tolerates it without pain.  You see….there is this pair of pretty red fat-baby boots that wants to be on my feet on New Years Eve and I have to meet a certain goal before I will pull them out of their box.
Having said that, I will give myself the weekends to rest and maybe splurge a little because life has to be enjoyable as well and with this very busy week behind me I am looking forward to a little rest, knitting and maybe a glass of wine. 🙂

I hope you have a relaxing weekend too!

  1. The road in my condo is 1/2 mile which makes an easy track. I wish it had more inclines, but I can stop and do lunges along the way. The sky during my walk last night looked much like your photo!

  2. Glad you are mended and are able to get out and enjoy fresh air fitess. That is a lovely spot to walk! I love walking on my road but the people drive like dorks, way over the speed and all over the road. I’ve jumped off into the brush more than once to avoid a messy, bloody ME. Maybe I’ll brave it again, I love outdoor walking too. Best luck, sweet Kim.

  3. I’ve started walking too and had issues with my back giving me fits. After visiting a spine doctor and going to 4 weeks of physical therapy it came down to start slow. I also had the feeling people would watch me and judge me … but I eventually got past it, mostly.
I use Runkeeper on my phone to keep track of how far I’ve walked and I use MyFitnessPal to track exercise and food.
    Good luck on your progress!

  4. Love the weekend relaxing and wine–balance is so important. How wonderful to have such a beautiful place for your walks. It is so tough to start a fitness regimen when you have some medical issues, so CHEERS to you!

  5. I get it with your thing about people watching. Me, too. Not much fun going on here this weekend as I live by the Chesapeake Bay and we will have to prep for Frankenstorm. One son lost his house to Hurricane Irene last year, so we don’t take these things lightly. Gas up the generator (losing power here means losing water-no running it, no flushing it), fill the tubs, etc., etc., etc. Stay safe, folks.

  6. Oh nice scenery to run in! Yeah, no one is going to notice you in the way you think. As a car approaches I stick my hand out a bit so they can see me esp around a corner. Enjoy your walk/runs! Such beauty out there.
