A few of my favorite things…….

Ipad

Normally I am not one to talk about something new here at the Woolen Rabbit.  I don't know why I don't but for some reason I usually feel a bit uncomfortable about it.

Maybe it is from earlier blog days when some where criticized for having too many things…and maybe I DO have a few nice toys…but heck I work hard for them, right?  Well…. this week 2 new things made their way to La casa Woolen Rabbit and I love each one with the same gusto!

Over the last few years I have lusted for an iphone but given that I live in Verizonland, an iphone was just not an option.  I have an older ipod that works fine so when the itouch came out and I was tempted, but I resisted.  The kindle came and again I was wildly tempted, but again….I resisted…..but then…….

The ipad came and I'm sorry, this time I could not resist.  My kids all teased me saying it was an itouch for old people who can't see, but they were singing a different tune once it arrived.  Risa said it best………."my ipad, I think I could marry it!".  I think she could be right.  It's a pretty darn nifty tool right down to allowing me to using it for a credit card terminal for yarn sales.  How sweet is that?

Josh album

Next was the long awaited arrival of the new Josh Ritter album……whoo hoo!  I actually think it could be his best, although it's a toss up between this one and Hello Starling.

When Ashley was in college she was forever telling me that I should listen to Josh.  "Mom, you will love him", "Mom…just listen once", "MOM…I think you should listen….pleease."

Always busy and kind of set in my ways about what music I like I never did find the time to listen to him until one day Ashley popped a tape of his in her car when we were going somewhere.

BAM………."who is this I say?"  "Why Mom….it's Josh Ritter", she says a bit smugly.  HA….this child of mine knows me well.  Ever since that day I have been a HUGE fan of his and even more so after seeing him in concert this past winter.

Click on this Daytrotter link and listen to a few tunes…you just might like him too. 🙂

Pssst….Daytrotter is a pretty cool place….just sayin'

  2. Had to go check this Josh Ritter guy…inspired by Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan. Wow…this guy is good!!!
My husband bought an iPod Touch a few months ago. It’s a cute little toy, but I’m not overly impressed. Happy with my big honkin’ 17″ laptop, I am!!

  3. My husband insists he “needs” an iPad. I’m hoping he’ll hold out until November so I can buy him one for his birthday, but that probably won’t happen. 🙂

  4. I have iPad envy! You do deserve and you can do so many things with it you can’t do with the iTouch. I have a little credit with the iTunes store and Josh Ritter is just the right thing.

  5. Kim- Why should you feel bad about having things? We all need to treat ourselves, and it’s great that you like the IPad, because I wasn’t sure what someone would use it for.
    Now I know.

  6. iWant, but iDon’t Have — not even an iPod of any kind! My head’s been turned, though!! I’d really like to see one in action. Ideally, I’d love to replace my laptop with a desktop and get an iPad for the road. We’ll see… I’m obviously not moving too fast with the technology stuff these days. ; )

  8. My husband calls me ‘gadget girl’ so I can totally relate to you. Just wanted you to know that after checking out Josh Ritter’s music I downloaded the new album. His songs are very interesting, to say the least! Thanks for sharing him with us!

  9. Kim, my hubby Dave got an iPad for our 23rd anniversary! It just came last Wednesday and he is really loving it! So glad you got one, and enjoy it!

  10. I’ve not gotten an iphone; there’s no insurance for it so if it’s lost or stolen, it’s full price to get a new one.
The ipad looks like so much fun! Enjoy!!!!!!

  11. Credit card thingy on the iPad would have been perfect for New Hampshire Sheep & Wool festival this past weekend. I’m usully a lurker, but had to step out of the shadows to encourage you to have a booth at the NHS&W festival next year. Is there a reason you don’t show there? Please consider for next year. I’d love to be able to see you and your yarns in person. I can promise that some would go home with me.
