Friday’s Flower……….Delphinium

Delphinium

What do you think about this heat?  Ewwow!  We here in the Northeast have been spoiled by very moderate temps this summer, until this week.  Me….I am so not a hot weather person.  Great for the garden and the kids playing in the pool, but give me a cup of iced tea, that my good friend Terry got me hooked on and a sock to work on in the shade….I am a happy camper.

Speaking of socks, I have started another pair for my SOS…..but as you can see from the pile of unraveled yarn, my first attempt didn’t go so well.  I was going to knit these Artichocke Socks, but I was having a hard time memorizing the pattern.  It’s not a hard pattern at all, and I will most definitely knit a pair later, but I want another easy pattern for mindless summer knitting…….keeping the summer simple :-).  I am saving my more complicated knitting projects for the fall, so for this pair of socks, I settled on another Nancy Bush pattern from Knitting Vintage Socks.  This weekend you will probably find me sitting in the shade, with that class of ice tea and these socks in my lap 🙂

I hope you have an enjoyable weekend in your corner of the world……stay cool~

  1. I just love the color of delphiniums and the color of your sock looks marvelous, too! We’ve cooled off the last few days and it’s heavenly…heat shall return. Your weekend in the shade, avec tea and knitting, sounds heavenly.

  2. Good luck with your socks and iced tea! I think iced tea (especially when it’s sweet) is the most refreshing thing on a hot summer’s day. Try it with a little swish of Peach Schnapps!

  3. I like the idea of “keeping the summer simple.” Knitting-wise I’m succeeding because I also have a pair of mindless socks on the needles.
Love the delphinium. There’s a big difference in the types of flowers that you can grow in your garden compared to what grows down here.

  4. We’ve had some lovely temperatures lately but I see in the forecast that we’re heating up again next week. 😦 Wish I could join you for knitting and iced tea!

  5. No kidding, The last couple of months have spoiled us! I left a glass bottle of iced tea in my car yesterday at work and it got so hot the glass cracked! Yuck.

  7. Hate the heat. Love the flower. I even got chased from the porch by the humidity/heat combo. But at least I can KNIT in the AC.
Summertime blues mean simple socks, yes. I’m losing ambition fast….
