Metallica?

Metal_fingersWhy O’ why would anyone wrap their fingers in tinfoil?

A few weeks ago before I took my trip to Williamsburg, as a treat for losing 10 pounds, I had my nails done.   How I made it to almost 50 years without ever having as much asNails_2
a manicure surprises even me……however….

As much as I enjoyed having nice nails, I just can’t get past the feeling of something fake on my nails. That New England Yankee side of me kicked in though and I did manage to leave them on for almost 3 weeks until they got to the point where I needed to either have them filled or removed though and I opted for removing them.

As I sat down with a bottle of acetone thinking it would be easy~peasy……..let me tell you grrls……it’s not!  I spent 2 hours getting those suckers off…yikes!  Next 10 pounds, I think it is going to be just a manicure and a polish for me 🙂

The rest of my weekend was filled with better things, once finished with the barn chores.  A lot of knitting and spinning was done and finished (photos coming). In addition to the knitting, little Miss Cleo, Hannah and I went for a walk in the village, searching for the perfect place for a photo shoot.  The weather was unseasonably warm for us up here in the Mountains, which made it hard to want to stay inside.

Every year the dog club I belong to, puts out a lovely yearbook.  It just so happens that Cleo’s breeder is the editor of the yearbook and is a fantastic photographer in her own right. (but she lives in Texas).  I wanted to have just the right picture of her to make not only me happy, but her breeder proud to have bred her.

Let me tell you just how hard it is to get 12 pounds of wiggle worm to sit still for even a minute.  Over the last few months I have tried and tried…even a professional photographer tried and failed, but I think we finally were able to get 2 pictures that capture this little itchy britch’s spirit 🙂
Now the question is….which picture do I use?

  1. “Mommy can we be all done please?” Too cute. I’d chose the photo on the left of Chloe. You can see both of her eyes more clearly and more of her body. The colors of her fur is also richer. Just my 2 cents worth.

  2. Awwwwwwww!! Both are adorable. I vote for the photo on the left, because there’s a hand in the photo on the right. But if you can edit it out, that one on the right would be my choice.

  3. Well, you don’t really have a consensus here do you? Must mean they’re both good. I vote for the one on the left — what beautiful eyes that girl’s got!

  4. I’d go with the picture on the left, I can see a hand in the picture on the right!
I suggest a pedicure (no fake nails) for your next treat! Congrats on losing 10!

  8. I’ll go with the gang on this one.
I took my nails off several years ago and now have a natural manicure. My own nails don’t grow long but they are mine;-)

  9. I like the one on the right best, all except the hand. You’d have to photoshop that out. Sounds easy…….:)
I always discourage those nails. They do a number on your real nails, especially if you do them long term. I feel lucky that my nails repaired, but it took almost a year after my two hour acetone soak. Plus, I just hated the feel of them, never could get used to it. And the maintenance. UGH!

  10. I would use the one on the left – but crop it a bit.
Don’t bother with the nails – go for a pedicure! I don’t bother with my fingernails anymore but I LOVE a good pedicure and you can go with wild colors on your toes that you would never use on your nails.

  11. I had my nails done like that once. It was a mistake. I just wanted a normal manicure. Then I decided to give it a try. Too weird feeling though. Plus it seriously impeded my ability to type. L
Congratulations on losing ten pounds. That’s a fantastic accomplishment. 😀

oh, and i had fake nails for a while too. i eventually got used to them… but i wasn’t knitting much then. i got back into knitting again, and realized it just WASNT going to work. i second the notion a few others have brought up… pedicure!! pedicures are god’s way of making you feel like a woman again, no matter how crazy your life is 🙂
