Happy Valentines Day!! ….. Feb. 14, 2006

Happiness is to love and to be loved

How can you not love a face like that?

Fibery Stuff
As you may have read on both Julia’s and Judy’s blogs, we had a
wonderful Saturday afternoon in Lowell Mass, at the Textile Museum.
There is so much that I want to say about our trip, so I am going to
devote an entire post on our trip a little later in the week.  I am
going to try to keep this post short ;-).

SwatchIt has been a while since I felt the urge to work on a larger than sock/scarf project, but seeing all the lovely Olympic going on’s, the urge to knit big was too strong to pass up, so I dug thru my pattern books to find just the right pattern for the lovely Malabrigo yarn and came across this Manos book.

Now, I am not normally a swatch it kind of girl, however, this yarn is soooooo soft, I know that it wouldn’t take to ripping very kindly.  Can you believe, first try with the recommended size 9 needles and I got gauge….yippee!  I am going to knit the v-neck sweater in the middle.

SweaterAfter working on size 0’s and size 1 needles, it is amazing how fast something knits up on size 9’s!  This yarn is incredibly soft and definitely something that can be worn against even the most sensitive skin.

I am wondering though…….will it pill?  Has anyone had any experience with how this yarn wears?  I could be tempted to buy more….it is such a treat to work with!

Changing_colors_1I want to thank all of you who emailed me with such kind words for the dogs.  Most of them, seem to be feeling a bit better today, although my oldest girl is having a harder time.  Hopefully the next few days will bring about more settled stomachs  ;-).  If the girls are keeping their dinners down, I am hoping to sneak out for a few hours Saturday and join you for a Spin at the Spa, so fingers are crossed here 😉

I also want to thank those of you who appreciate the fiber work that I do.  I was amazed at how quickly so much of the rovings I posted flew off the shelves here.  I love working with colors and knowing that others enjoy it too, means so much to me…..You guys are awesome!    HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!!!!!!!

  1. OH yes, that baby is wonderful. Yes, I have heard people say that malabrigo does pill. Check out Clara’s Knitter’s Review on it, as she has abused a swatch in the past.
Looking forward to hearing about your Textile Museum adventures. How can we NOT love your roving? You have such a wonderful skill and talent. Plus your prep is awesome!

  3. Oh so cute! I hope all your babies are better soon. That yarn looks beautiful- gonna have to check it out. And as far as your rovings- STOP! My roving stash is starting to spill out of its storage space. My poor wheel is ready to cry “Uncle!” 😉

  5. Had to run and give valentine hugs to my dogs as soon as I saw that picture. What a sweet puppy!!! If you ever sell yarn from your roving, I’d be the first to buy it from you! Still wish I knew how to spin everytime I look at your pictures….
Hope the dogs are feeling better.

  7. I’ve got my fingers tightly crossed for the pooches and you – I’d love to say hi on Saturday!
And yes, you do a lovely job on those fibers! If I weren’t getting so much of my own, I’d be one of your biggest customers!!

  9. You certainly will love a face like that!
Sorry to read about all the problems with the dogs… I have two dogs and I always get so worried when their tails are not wagging the usual way. But glad that they are little better now.
I’m glad you are able to use the yarn!

  11. Your latest rovings look INCREDIBLE 🙂 I’m saving my pennies for more…and big hugs to you for having to deal with doggie illnesses. Poor things. I wish I could go to Spa this year, but it’s not going to happen…something about a ten hour drive with a seven-year-old for a one-day stay didn’t really appeal to anyone here. Sigh.

  13. Hope you get to have some fiber girl time on Saturday! There’s nothing like it. Relieved to hear that the dogs are better; hope things continue to improve. And what an adorable face!
I’m with Chris; if I didn’t have piles of wool myself, I’d be right in line for your gorgeous roving!
