Ok…….I know I said that I would post something new each day, but I am pooped when I get home.  In the last few days, I have finished 3 woven shawls, 2 knitted hats and 3 skeins of angora.  It has been exhausting and exhilarating all at the same time.  The joint creativity of the various fiber artists have been such an inspiration.  Many times we only see each other one or 2 times a year, so some of that time is spent getting re-connected in each others lives.  Kindred spirits we all are for sure.

This will be a longer post as I am going to jam it all in tonight’s post, so I can put my feet up tomorrow night and relax 🙂  I apologize for being a bit behind in comment responding……the brain is jello at the end of the day.  Hopefully, I will get back on track soon.

Meet Julie Yarborough of Kick The Moon Farm. Julie has an incredible imagination, that comes thru in her needle felting. She
creates creatures of all kinds and
usually you can see a little of someone you know in each one of them.  Her colors are vivid…….and her creations fairy like.  Julie is wonderful with the children and is a favorite of Little Miss Hannah.
The Mask at the top of the page is also one of Julie’s creations.  If you click on it, look at it carefully, Julie has felted the story of life into that mask.  So interesting and fascinating!

Meet Michelle Day of Fiber Fetish.  Michelle’s specialty is her fun hats.  Michelle only learned how to spin a few short years ago…….but man did she perfect it quickly!

Her hats are always a hit at any show she is vending at.  Michelle also demonstrates color blending on hackles…..another favorite for interested customers.

Meet Karen Cornell of Crowsrise Farm.  Karen is a fellow angora lover, raising the smallest and softest of the angora family…..English Angoras.  Karen spends her days, carding fiber and knitting some of the most luscious items you can imagine.

This year, her young daughter, Treah and Hannah hit it off famously and spent a lot of time together.  Today, they demonstrated making felted soap bars and actually made a little pocket money for themselves.  Let me tell you how excited they were……I see future fiber artists written all over their little faces 😉

Meet Linda Whiting of Pinestar Studio.
Linda is a gifted tapestry weaver.  Every year, she weaves a sheep tapestry at the fair.  This year’s picture is a copy of a snapshot she took of a Morehouse Merno at Rhinebeck last year.  This new tapestry is very complex and challenging.  She promises to have it hanging on the wall next year…..I for one can’t wait to see it!

Meet Roberta McClellan of Moat Mountain Farms .  Bert raises a small flock of sheep that she spoils silly.  They follow her around like little puppy dogs.  Her sheep give her lovely wool, which she dyes into brilliant colors.  Bert is famous at this fair for her needle felted pumpkins.  As fast as she makes them, they fly out off the shelves.  This year, Bert taught Hannah and Treah how to make pumpkins…….see, fiber artists in training…

Meet Joan Jeness.  Joan is the resident spindler.  Absolutely amazing on a drop spindle is she.  At almost any fiber event, you are sure to see Joan walking around, chatting up a storm, all the while spinning fine laceweight singles on her drop spindle…….Joan has the most amazing collection of stunning spindles.

In addition to being a talented spinner, Joan is also a certified Master Knitter.  It’s nice to have that brain to pick when you are stumped…<grin>.

and finally……….just to prove that I really was there….here we are 😉

There are other demonstrators and vendors, but I will be here all night if I continue…LOL.  These girls that I have highlighted, each demonstrate a specialty that amazes me every year.  I hope that you have enjoyed a little slice of Fryeburg Fair.

BTW……I don’t know what is up with bloglines lately.  Perhaps you will get to read this sometime tomorrow, even though I am posting at 8pm tonight…..LOL!
