The Passing of a Companion……August 18, 2004

“Then when I leave this earth
I’ll be with the angels standin’

I’ll be out there waiting for my true companion
Just for my true companion.”

Every now and then we are fortunate enough to share our lives with a beloved pet, that not only owns our heart, but our soul. This little girl, Etoile Private Dancer of Ballymena, was the one that owned mine. Emergency surgery on Monday, showed that Dancer had an aggressive tumor in her throat. Out of kindness to my companion, I let her go, but it is so very hard to say good-bye to these dear little ones. Sleep well my dear little Dancer.

After 2 days of crying, I am determined to not let this post be depressing, so I have taken a few pictures pf the puppies. It truly is “the circle of life” here. The 2 puppies are growing quickly now. They are starting to make little growling sounds as they struggle to get on their feet. Such funny little babies. DoraThe smaller puppy will be named after my dear Dancer. She will be Ballymena Tiny Dancer and we will call her Dora, after the famous dancer, Isadora Duncan. I have not come up with a name for the larger puppy yet, but she is a cutie too. Both girls most likely will stay here 🙂pup1

Knitting
Finally!!!!!! I finished my cloverleaf sock for the six sock knit around. finclover I don’t think that I have ever been so happy to finish a project as I have this one!! I have started the second “wave” sock and I must say that I do enjoy, not only the pattern, but the yarn that I am using as well. We will be heading on a trip to Pennsylvania this week, so with all of the driving time, both too and fro, I am hoping to get this sock finished. I will also get a jump start on the flower basket shawl knit around too. This time I hope to be a bit ahead of the game, than lagging behind this time…LOL.

Traveling
As I mentioned above, we will be heading out to Pennsylvania. It is a combination trip. My husband’s family lives in Chambersburg, PA, so my DH and my 2 younger daughters will visit with the family and I will head on over to York, PA , for a dog show. I am hoping to finish my girl, Milkeyn Felicity of Ballymena. She only needs this one major to finish, so keep your fingers crossed for us!!! I will post some pictures of the show when I come home.

Secret Pal
I heard from my Secret Pal again :-))). She sent me this lovely handmade card..secretpal She also left a comment that a package was being mailed out on Thursday :-). We will be away until Monday evening, but it will be so nice to come home to a present. After the ups and downs of the past few weeks, a present is going to be nice!! Thank you, Secret Pal 🙂

Have a nice few days :-))!!!! I look forward to blogging when I come home.

  1. Blast, you made me cry. I am So sorry to hear about your sweet girl. I’ve lost animal companions before and it leaves a hole in my heart. However, Dora is a precious little dumpling and I hope she helps ease the pain a little.
Have a great time at the dog show and good luck finishing your Milkeyn Felicity girl! You’ll only be about an hour away from me! 🙂

  2. I’m so sorry for the loss of your companion. I love my dog so much and having lost dogs before can understand how painful it is. How fortunate that you have the darling puppies. They will certainly never take Dancer’s place, but they do snuggle into that hole that’s left! Enjoy your trip and good luck at the show! My husband and I are seriously considering a King Charles and so I avidly read your blog to keep up on your doings!

  3. We are struggling with our sweet Murphy, a Schnauzer, right now. It’s so sad to know it will likely end with his passing, too. My heart breaks for you. The little ones will help keep you laughing. You forever miss the one gone and they can’t be replaced but the space can be filled with love for the new additions.

  4. So sorry to hear about your dog, Kim.
Congrats on finishing the Cloverleaf sock. You were a trooper to stick with it; especially using Fixation, a yarn which I’ve never liked. I adore the yarn you’ve chosen for your Waves. I’ve been coveting that Gold Hill colorway but haven’t seen it at my LYS yet.

  5. So sorry to hear about your dog. We, too, just recently lost our dog and I know how hard it is. It’s still so painful. I hope you find comfort in your puppies– we’re finding comfort in our cat, Patches, though of course it’s not the same. {{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}
