Wrapping Up Loose Ends and SECRET PAL….August 5, 2004

We received the names and blog addresses of our Secret Pal 2 this week. This is going to be fun!! My Secret Pal is the same age as my middle daughter, so I have to re-adjust my thoughts from what “I” would like to what my daugther would like…LOL. After reading my SP’s blog though, I can tell that we have some things in common………I won’t say here though, as I don’t want to give it away.
Of course, shopping for my Secret Pal, gave me an excuse for a trip down to 2 of my Favorite LYS’s. First stop was a trip down to Concord and the Elegant Ewe. Ok…….I had to bring my son to Concord for an appointment……but heck, a trip to Concord, always includes a stop at the Elegant Ewe. To date, it is my most favorite yarn store. You walk in the door to celtic music and a nice big comfy chair for examining new patterns…….then on to some of the most yummy yarns available. They also carry spinning equipment too. They do not have a website yet, but you can find more information about them in The Knitter’s Stash
Next stop was Patternworks in Center Harbor. They have recentlly relocated to New Hampshire from New York and are we ever grateful!! It is a lovely store and the staff is so helpful and friendly. I was a good girl though……..I bought presents for my SP, but resisted the temptation to add to my ever growing stash, until I finish a few projects……..which brings me to my next subject.

Wrapping Up Loose Ends
I felt so badly giving up on my Cloverleaf socks, as I am not one to leave a project unfinished, that it spurred me on to complete the few projects that were waiting to be completed. Here is a picture of the baby set that I made for my DD, Stacey’s friends.baby After working on those small sock sized knitting needles, it was nice to return to my Brittany Birch Needles. With the baby set finished, it was on to the Neckerchief smallshawlmade from fibers produced right here at the Woolen Rabbit. The colorway is Arizona Sunset, one of my personal favorites and I was really pleased with how this little shawl finished up. It will go on display at the Fryeburg Fair, where I will be demonstrating most of that week in our “new”…yippee…….Fiber Building!

Puppies
I want to thank all of the people who left such supportive messages regarding the little puppy that I lost.
The two remaining puppies are doing well. Both girls have doubled their birth weight and are doing laps around the whelping box. Their Mom, Breeze has been such a great mom. Tonight will be my first night back in my own bed. I always spend the first week with new pups having the whelping box right next to the couch, so that I can be sure that Mom does not inadvertently sit on them. I will post picture of the puppies and the bunnies this weekend :-).

  1. I haven’t visited the Elegant Ewe yet, but always enjoy their booth at the NH Spinners and Fiber show.
Do you go to the Fiber Studio in Henniker ever? I loved going there when I was living in NH.

  2. I should make a trip up there… I’m thinking of heading to the NH craftsmen fair at Sunapee this week because a new friend is exhibiting there and wants me to come. Hmmm. Not like I need any fiber related things though.
