A Wonderful Weekend!

Biffle
Fiber Revival!!

This past weekend I had the opportunity to vend at one of my favorite events, The Fiber Revival, which is held every August in Newbury, Mass at the Spencer Peirce Little Farm.  In addition to the Fiber event that includes wonderful classes and pretty darn good vendors…ahem, there is also an old fashioned baseball game and ….a beer truck.  How can you go wrong with that combination?

I have worked at this event for the last 3 years and this is one of the few events that Mr. Woolen Rabbit gets to help me with.  I always enjoy having him come along…..good company and a great sherpa. <grin>.  It's more about the great company though…LOL

You never know what you might encounter at this event.  Last year I had a young goat inspecting my yarns and this year we were lucky enough to meet this colorful young and friendly lad up close and personal….hmmm…I am feeling a colorway coming on.

My most favorite part of this festival however is getting to spend time with good friends who I don't get to see nearly enough.  Getting ready for a show is a TON of work and I whine a lot to Mr. Woolen Rabbit while I am power dyeing, but the reward is always worth it.  I love seeing my fiber friends!!  ❀ you grrls!

Another little reward is this scrumptious bit of fiber (thanks Josette!) that I am going to be taking with me on vacation next week.   A week that will include reckless nothingness.  Sunning and swimming at the beach, endless summer reading, maybe a whale watch….and definitely some spinning and knitting.
I hope your week is filled with good things too!

Quirky…..Yes….I think maybe it just might be true…..

I don’t know about you, but I grew up in a house where you did exactly what the generation before you did without thinking.  You graduated from high school, got married and kept an immaculate house…you had children, donned an apron as you tossed a roast in the oven on Sunday before you went to church…and you sewed pretty dresses for your daughters.  Somehow though for me something felt amiss. There was a whole chunk of me that was missing…..my youth.

I was married at 19 and a Mom at 20 and never realized that there was a life beyond what I had experienced as a child growing up, so I just went with it.  I went from my parents house to my husband’s house without the oppurtunity to experience life and never really knowing the difference.

As the years went by there was the inevitable divorce and many life challenges that naturally went along with that part of my life story. A lot of sadness and yet so much joy as my amazing children who in each of their unique ways showed me so many different ways to embrace my inner child by observing how they have embraced their new lives as they left the nest.

That quirky kid who really never had a chance to be a kid….still embraces the always present childhood in every generation.  So, in saying this, I am going to embrace and smile on this video each and every day on facebook this year….and you can too if you want too πŸ™‚

Each one of us has either learned and or taught a child to ride a bike…and what a magical moment it is/was when we did it…life lesson….you CAN do it!  Me…I choose to embrace life and new experiences. πŸ™‚
