"Honeybees depend not only on physical contact with the colony, but also require its social companionship and support.
Isolate a honeybee from her sisters and she will die."
The Queen Must Die and Other Affairs of Bees and Men-
Yes…I know that this is a bumble bee, not a honey bee, but I love this quote from one of my favorite books. It reminds me of the time I spent years ago in Rhinebeck with some of my dearest friends from far and near when we all watched the movie, "The Secret Life of Bees".
You grrls know who you are..I will always treasure that weekend in my heart!
I found this sweet little bee on the very last of my flowers that the frost still hasn't taken away. She was so cold that she was unable to move until almost noon on Wednesday. I was planning to cut them and bring them in that day, but I just let her bee until she was able to find her way again once warm enough.
Tomorrow the last flowers will be cut and brought in and the rest will all be brought up to the compost heap up the road from us.
I am sad to see Summer…and I am hoping that we might have some sort of fall before the long Winter season settles in up here because this is what we woke up to yesterday…

Ugh. It is entirely too soon for the snowflakes. 😦 (Although we apparently had them, too — up north where our cabin is located.)

We’ve also had a dusting of snow that melted away quickly. Now it’s unseasonable warm. I remember so well that trip to Rhinebeck and seeing the movie with the Bee Sisters. We had so much fun and we all have a strong attachment to that book because it. xoxo
