I don't know if it was the anticipation and excitement of the new year that had me put so many things on the needles or what, but I am here to tell you not all is going well in knitland for me.
The socks above look great on the sock board, but I am not sure that either one is going to be wide enough, which is strange. I ripped out the one that was looking seriously small and did another one with a regular (non knitpicks) 2.25 needle, which is my old stand by. As I was knitting, Ash says.."Gee Mom, that looks so narrow, I doubt it would fit me." Hmmmm…….the more I thought about it the more I am worried she could be right, especially with the one on the knitpics, although they are knitting up at the same length gauge, it still seems narrower.
So…….they have been put on the back burner for just a little bit so that I can contemplate what to do. Do I rip them both out and do them one at a time on 2.50's or do I finish the larger one on the 2.25 and hope for the best.
…then there is Twisted Vines. I love working on this sweater. The yarn is so soft and user friendly. The problem? While it looks like a simple knit, it is a bit deceiving. On the front panels, you have 4 different things going on at the same time to keep track of and none of them coincide with each other. Not really a problem, but I had set TV aside to finish a few things and forgot to leave a note as to where I left off. Normally I am very good about that, but not this time and I can't for the life of me figure out where I am, so I will have to rip back a few rows to get my bearings again……so she has been resting as well.

The one thing that had been giving me fits when I started ironically has been the one knit that has been moving along without a hitch now. I finally found a good rhythm with the Etheral Fitchu. Go figure.. She kind of looks like a scary blob though, doesn't she…LOL
So….I think that I am going to try and recollect my focus and work on only one knit project for a little bit to see if it helps me move in the right direction again. Although, I have to admit, the sewing machine has been calling, so perhaps a little knitting and just a little sewing….and maybe…just a teeny bit of rug hooking…and……..
You see, I just can not keep myself out of that rabbit hole! 🙂
Your Etheral Fitchu looks stunning, I can’t wait to see it finished. I hear my sewing calling me away from my knitting too…

All I want to work on right now is easy mindless knitting. What is it with that? Your projects are looking lovely!

Sometimes things just need to rest. If they’re meant to be they will be finished

Could all the bad news in the world be creating this lack of focus? I have 8 projects on my needles right now! Virtually unheard of for me! Maybe after next Tuesday we’ll feel like being focused.

I suggest a pair of mittens. That will brings things right back into focus.

We of many talents have such a hard time fitting it all into a day. Maybe it’s time to work exclusively on the one thing that isn’t giving you trouble. An accomplishment is a good thing.

You’ve had so much trouble with those socks, if it were me, I think I’d rip them out and go on to something else.

I just love the colors in those socks – I hope they turn out well despite their rocky start! I like your new header, at least I think it’s new!

Kim- I have to practice project monogamy- which for me means a pair of mitts and a shawl, as well as needlepoint, some quilting and sweater designs.
Do you see where this is leading?

I think if I could focus on one thing, I could conquer the world! (There is absolutely no danger of that ever happening…)
I’m a sad soul who bought six more sets of little DPNs because all my needles were full.
And I need to get back to work sewing sock knitting bags. And those quilts-in-progress.
I’d rip the socks and start over. They’ve given you such fits by now that you’ll never really like them.

For the socks, put them on waste yarn, and see if they fit. Then you will know what to do.

My post was on focus today too. Hmmmm. I can’t wait to see your blob transform into Etheral Fitchu. The colorway is so beautiful! 🙂

Try it on – if you can fairly easily get it over your heel and onto your leg (which I’m betting you can looking at it on the blocker), it will be fine because the foot is actually wider with the stockinette sole.

I think your “scary blob” is actually a beautiful blob! Good luck with the focus.

I’m telling you, it has to do with the moon, the tides, the cold! I go through the same periods with my knitting, when nothing works, even the simplest thing. Everything will turn for you soon! I love the Etheral Fitchu! I knew those socks would come back to get you!

If socks that fit the sock blockers are too small for you, you need bigger sock blockers.
What the others said: try them on. It’s the only way to find out for sure. They’re too pretty to rip out without checking first.
