Lacing Up For Winter……Oct. 21, 2005

Snowmount1

How could it be??  Snow…..already??

SnowmountvistaWhat a wildly strange autumn it has been here in the mountains.  It is not unusual to see snow on the mountain at this time of the year……but it is incredibly unusual to have peak foliage so late in the season, with that snow…..our trees are usually nekid at this time of year.   The warm temps have delayed our foliage and we all thought it would be a dull display this year……but nature has fooled us again.  The colors are brilliant and against the snow, just breath taking.  I am so fortunate to live in such a beautiful place as this

Is it possible?? Rhinebeck overload??

Riverpro2Ok……I don’t know about you all, but I am on Rhinebeck overload.  The stories, the pictures, the fiber….  My brain is working overtime and my thoughts are scattered.  Do I play with the new fiber…do I do some of the felting I have been waiting to do……do I start the Warm Hand Mittens KAL, or the Peaceful Palm KAL….acckkk!!!

Deep breath…….aahhh……breathe……..in with the good……out with the confusion…aaahhhh……better now.

Waiting for me to get home with the ability to concentrate again was sweet "River."  Have I told you lately how much I love Kid Silk Haze…..cuz I do!

MerchickLacking the ability, however, to be completely monogomus as some of us are "trying" to be, I did cast on the Merino Laceweight Cardigan for those moments when I just can not concentrate.

Nothing like a little stockinette when waiting for a traffic light, or sitting at a soccer game, or visiting and chatting with friends…….

Oh…….and have I told you lately how much I adore Merino Lace yarn……everyone should knit with at least once in their lifetime….wonderful stuff!

  1. Oh my goodness, I didn’t even GO to Rhinebeck and I’m on sensory overload! I am loving all the photos. I am clicking all the links to see what I can buy online from the vendors that were there. I’m learning and seeing and wanting to touch and feel…. it’s crazy. I never thought I’d get so obsessed about this stuff. hehe It’s so great! πŸ™‚

  2. Ah, yes I have failed…but that just means more knitting fun. I am envious you have snow on your peaks. We need more and instead we are having picture perfect autumn days. Knit well this weekend and you should start mittens AND GLOVES! πŸ˜‰

  3. Gorgeous shots of Mount Washington. It has been a strange Autumn indeed. I love the River stole. I can’t wait to see your finished photos when completed. I joined the Warm Hands too. I am trying to narrow down a pattern.

  5. The River looks wonderful…
I just received the bunnyballs in Dandelion, which you donated for Give a Little and I won.
Oh. My. God. Kim, you are amazing. They even SMELL heavenly.
The lighter colour will be perfect for my mother, definitely, as she has green eyes. She will LOVE anything I make from this.
And I’m just wondering…do you do custom dyeing? For example, if I begged and pleaded for bunnyballs in a stronger colour, since I can’t wear pastels, would you be willing to create a stronger colour for me? Because I can’t see life without more of this stuff, and I want to wear it πŸ™‚ Cassie was not kidding about bunnycrack…
“Thank you” doesn’t even begin to cover it. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!

  6. I’m sure you’ve said this before – but how many balls of KSH do you need for “River”? I got 3 as a yummy birthday gift from Margene and Norma a while back – is that enough? Because I could order myself that thar Rowan, which I don’t think I have – I love the pattern.
